The Boys of Summer

It was 6 a.m.  I was awake.  Suddenly, I heard a rumble coming from the street.  It was my neighbor Rob on his motorcycle.  It was finally warm enough for Rob to ride his bike to work.  I smiled.  Spring was here.  Summer was coming.  It brought back memories.

As a teenager, summer was a time to hang out with the guys.  There would be softball games to play.  Other nights would find us at a friend’s house playing cards, table tennis, or pool.  Later in the evening we might end up at Wilmore Park or McDonald’s.  For less than a dollar you could get a burger and a soda.  We would talk and laugh until the manager kicked us out.

It was our time… we were “The Boys of Summer.”[1]

In June we will be gathering some boys of summer.  “The Boys of Summer” will meet for 4 Wednesdays.  We will hang out, have fun, and talk about what it means to be a godly man.

Guys, it’s not a big commitment.  It will be worth your time.

When:             4 Wednesdays beginning June 2.  (June 23 will be our last meeting)

Where:            Pastor Mark’s house

Time:               6:30 – 8 p.m.

Sign up at Church or call the church office – 314-544-2366.

We hope to meet outside.  If we are inside, we will figure out the mask thing depending on the current COVID protocols.  We will be limited to 10-12 guys.

Pastor Mark
